Stop Waiting for “Someday”: Your Life Is Happening Now

by | Jul 20, 2025 | Lifestyle

Have you ever caught yourself staring out the window or scrolling through your phone, daydreaming about what life will be like when you’ve finally “made it”?

I know I have more times than I’d care to admit. In fact, I’ve probably spent far too much of my working life doing just that. Waiting for the right moment. Waiting to feel successful. Waiting for some invisible signal to tell me it’s okay to finally live the life I’ve imagined.

But here’s the truth I’ve come to realise: that moment we’re all waiting for? It doesn’t exist.

The Illusion of “Made It”

Maybe it was someone stepping out of a brand-new car, walking into a meeting with effortless confidence, or giving a polished presentation on stage while you sat quietly in the audience thinking, “They must have everything sorted.”

We’ve all experienced this at some point. I remember attending a talk by a local entrepreneur about his journey to success and feeling completely in awe of what he had achieved. In fact, that very talk inspired me to take the leap and start my own business at the age of 17.

Since then, I’ve caught myself daydreaming many times—looking at someone and thinking, “That’s what success looks like.”

And for a moment, I’d find myself believing, “That’s what I’m working towards. That’s what it looks like when you’ve made it.”

But the truth is we never really know what’s going on behind the scenes.

That same person might be battling burnout, carrying the weight of imposter syndrome, or questioning if their life is heading in the right direction at all.

Because that idea of “having made it”? It’s a moving target. And most of the time, the people we think have reached it are still figuring it out – just like we are.

Moving the Goalposts

As a digital specialist and freelancer, I’ve seen this pattern play out countless times not just in myself, but in the people I work with. Entrepreneurs waiting for the “perfect” time to launch. Creatives waiting for a sign. Business owners waiting for everything to be just right before they step forward.

First it was, “When I land that big contract…” Then, “When the business is more established…” Then, “When I have more time…”

But just like that mirage on a hot day, the finish line keeps moving. And all the while, we’re missing the good stuff, the right now stuff.

Real Life Is Messy—and Beautiful

Here’s the thing: no one has it all figured out. That Instagram influencer with the flawless grid? They probably argued with their partner five minutes before posting about staging a perfect moment for social media fame. That business mentor who seems so confident? They still have doubts.

We’re all just figuring it out. And pretending otherwise only adds to the pressure.

Instead of waiting for life to become perfect, what if we accepted that this right now is life?

What if today is the day we stop licking around the edges and start biting into it?

What I’ve Learned (and Keep Relearning)

I’ve been lucky enough to work with brilliant people, travel through South America, build businesses, run workshops and still, I sometimes catch myself holding back, waiting for something to be different.

But I’ve also learned that the moment you stop waiting and just begin, everything changes.

You start living with intention. You take action. You stop needing permission.

Whether it’s writing that blog, launching that course, booking that trip, or simply choosing to enjoy your Tuesday don’t wait for a milestone to give you the green light.

You’re already here.

And your future self? They’re begging you not to waste another moment waiting for a better one.

Your Turn

What are you waiting for?

What would you do differently today if you believed this version of your life was already enough?

Whatever it is, start now.
